LONDON, ON, Sept. 22, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), in partnership with the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management at Ivey Business School, will release new research examining the impact of tariffs and trade disruptions on communities across Canada.

Drawing on input from 31 municipalities in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador, the research provides a national snapshot of how trade-related economic pressures are taking a toll on communities, where it hits first and how they are responding.

Municipal leaders and researchers will discuss key findings, emerging local economic pressures, community responses to trade uncertainty, as well as the role municipalities play in strengthening Canada's long-term economic resilience.
